Dining in Langkawi
We've picked up some of the 'Langkawians' favorite restaurants.
In some of them English is hardly spoken.
"Bon Appetit"
RED TOMATO GARDEN CAFE
Located in the center of Pantai Cenang Road
As its name tells, this cafe is
surrounded by greens. Frendly staffs
serve you breakfast, lunch and dinner. My favorites are the pizzas !
Plenty of choice and you can also ask for topping.
(Above Pizza Diabolo on the picture)
Tania who is German recommends of course her home made bread. Yummy !
How about starting your day with some warm bread, straight from the oven
?
Or some home made yogurt and other breakfast set menus
(my favorite is
the Farmer's Choice)
On a very hot day, if you happen to drop by when Oli is watering his plants,
you are welcomed with some mist from the prinkler, to cool you down.
TEL:04-955-9118
Open 9:00-14:30(Breakfast and lunch)
18:30-22:30(Dinner)
Location:Pantai Cenang |
Sze Chuan
Chinese restaurant.
Worth trying are the deer meat and sze chuan soup.
This soup is spicy and sour at the same time.
Over here the staff speak English and the chef
is very friendly.
We tend to order the same dishes everytime, please let us know
if you happen to try a very special one.
Open : 18:00pm-2:00am
Location : Kuah (map13)

Bihun Soup
The best place for "Bihun Soup" in Langkawi.
This old man has been cooking Bihun Soup for 20 years.
It might not be easy to find the place, but remember it's
in front of the school with red coloured roof.
The staff barely understand English here.
Let's try to order in Malay.
[Bihun Sup satu]ĻOne Bihun Soup please.
Open : 9:00am-21:00pm
Location : Ulu Melaka (map9)

Nasi Ayam(Chicken Rice)
This place is always crowded.
Their Speciality is Nasi Ayam (Roasted chicken on the steamed rice.).
Nothing else is on the menu!
Choose the parts you like ; breast is "dada"
legs is "paha" and wing is "kepak".
Open : 9:30am-16:00pm (until the last piece of chicken)
Location : Kuah (map10)
|
Shark Fin (Bak Kut Teh)
Bak Kut Teh is a local pork rib soup,
rich in garlic and chinese medicinal spices.
It's not easy to get pork in Langkawi so go for it !
Their speciality is Bak Kut Teh of course,
but the Chinese Dumplings are worth trying as well.
Since they are very popular and limited in numbers
you have a better chance to get one before 7pm.
If you find one just take it!
Open : 18:00pm-1:00am
Location : Near Kuah (map11)

Roti Canai
Just a small shop just before the last main
T-junction on the way to the Datai and the
Andaman Hotels.
There are many roti canai shops on the
island but this one is really the best !
Choose from Roti with egg, cheese, saussage etc.
The curry that goes with it is just great.
This cool 'roti man' can speak English.
Open : 7:00am-13:00pm 17:00pm-19:00pm
Location : Datai junction (map12)
